Cadillac Compact Crossover 2018
Last week’s 2015 Los Angeles compact crossover, likely to be badged an XT3 or XT4, will eventually be followed by a large crossover with third-row seats. This model will rival the likes of the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90 and fill what de Nysschen describes as the “obvious gap” between the small-to-mid-size XT5 and full-size Escalade. The Cadillac boss said we can expect it in the second half of 2018 or early 2019.
The large crossover was originally due next year but the release was pushed back, likely due to a decision to base it on the rear-wheel-drive underpinnings of the Cadillac-exclusive Omega platform that debuts in the CT6 sedan. Previously, the crossover was to share a platform with other, front-wheel-drive-based General Motors Company [NYSE:GM] large crossovers like the Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse.
